The NAACP has launched a "rapid response system" to help people use their cell phones to report police misconduct. Officially launched Monday as part of the NAACP's centennial convention, the system is meant to give people an easy way to upload videos or photos of incidents through their phones or computers straight to the organization.

The information collected will be used to compile a database of police misconduct, which could show patterns of disrimination, and to highlight specific incidents, NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous said. More and more, mobile devices are being used to capture footage of encounters with police, like the one in which Oscar Grant was killed in January. (Black Politics on the Web)
