HIV and AIDS have plagued the United States for about three decades, and for most of that time, they have disproportionately affected African Americans. How did it come to this?
The timeline below shows the origins of the AIDS virus, HIV, and how the number of people affected over the years has changed. It also reflects the changes in our attitudes toward the disease, thanks in part to celebrities like Magic Johnson and Eazy-E talking about the role it's played in their lives.
So read and watch about how it got to this point and join our Stop Black AIDS campaign.

Interesting. HIV/AIDS is a cause for major concern in the black american community. In this age more and more people engage in casual unprotected sex and fool around with needles, not realizing the impact it could on their lives, or sometimes not even caring. I recently read this novel by author Ben Hinson called THREE MONTHS that in my personal opinion is a very blunt portrayal of what happens in our communities today. We need more people to step up.
