China is actively seeking to manipulate the neighbors of India. He ‘s looking at Bhutan in this endeavor, too. The government, however, is very conscious of this and does not want to leave any stone unturned to further improve its old ties with this Himalayan country. The Modi Government is making every effort between the two countries and from trade points to rail ties to thwart any attempt by China to exclude Bhutan from the sphere of influence of India.
Just last week, a new trading route was opened between India and Bhutan. Following this, the Government of India can also approve Bhutan ‘s request to open another permanent Land Custom Station (LCS). This will help Bhutan increase its exports to India and Bangladesh. Apart from that, India is also considering opening another integrated checkpoint.
Those are important because China has a keen eye on Bhutan. Bhutan is India’s only neighbor who has declined to be part of China’s Belt Road Initiative. The Government of India knows that China is under growing pressure on Bhutan. It has recently made its ground in the region west of Bhutan and in the vicinity of Arunachal Prades.
