Canadian PM Justin Trudeau visits Sabarmati Ashram

The Canadian Prime Minister along with his family arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family arrived Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state, Gujarat on Monday.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau along with his wife Sophie and children Xavier, Hadrien and Ella-Grace visited the Sabarmati ashram in Ahmedabad.They were dressed in traditional Gujarati culture to visit the Sabarmati ashram  Mahatma Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad.

They also visited the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar. During their visit, Gandhi Ashram Justin Trudeau and his son Xavier spin cotton on a wheel. Along with his family members, Mr Trudeau has enjoyed the beauty of Taj Mahal on Sunday and they have also taken a photograph at Taj Mahal. He has already visited Mathura Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Centre in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

Mr Trudeau who arrived in India on Saturday will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 23. He is the first Prime Minister who visited India after 2012. Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat welcomed Mr Trudeau.

Mr Trudeau visiting India along with his cabinet colleagues including Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains, Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan, Science and Sports Minister Kirsty Duncan and Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi.

Both countries Prime Ministers will have a discussion on defence and security, civil nuclear cooperation, space, trade and investment, and tackling climate change. Mr Trudeau will have a meeting with business leaders and producers of the film industry on February 20, in Mumbai.

Canadian PM will visit Golden Temple in Amritsar on 21 February. On February 22 he will visit  Jama Masjid and a cricket ground in New Delhi.

“Wheels up for India and a busy visit focused on creating good jobs and strengthening the deep connection between the people of our two countries,” Trudeau had tweeted before his trip.
