Scientists Find Out A New Therapy To Reverse The Aging Process In Elderly People In An Advanced Study

A team of scientists has found a new therapy to overturn the aging process in old people. They have claimed that oxygen therapy can effectively reverse the aging process. It is the first of its kind study. Experts from Tel Aviv University in Israel have used hyperbaric oxygen chambers to identify and target specific cells and DNA, which are linked to shorter duration of life. They have been able to find out a holy grail of youth fountain at the end of the study. The findings of this research have been released in the journal Aging. Oxygen therapy is designed for breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized atmosphere. This therapy has been able to reverse a key process, which is responsible for cellular aging.

During the study, experts have examined whether oxygen therapy can repeal the process of aging in 35 elderly people. All the participants of the study have been above 64 years. Experts have kept elderly participants in the hyperbaric oxygen chambers for 90 minutes a day and five days a week for three months. They have observed the impact of the therapy on senescent T helper cells. These cells are linked with tissue and organ corrosion. Scientists as well have observed the length of telomere in every participant. A telomere is a molecule, which contributes to premature cellular aging. At the end of the study, experts have found that senescent cells of the participants have reduced up to 37 percent. While the volunteers’ telomeres have extended by an average length of 20 percent. This shows that extended telomere might be able to reverse the aging process to a certain extent, said the experts.

The co-author of the study, Dr. Shai Efrati has said that a significant expansion in the length of telomere shows that aging can be targeted and overturned at the basic cellular biological level. The shortening of telomeres is the reason behind the biology of the aging process. While undergoing the hyperbaric oxygen sessions, experts have asked the volunteers not to change their lifestyle, diet, or medication, which affects a person’s biological age. As per the experts, a pressurized oxygen chamber has triggered brief oxygen shortages, which have led to the regeneration of cells. Scientists have said that in just three months of oxygen therapy, they have been able to attain such major telomere elongation, which is an extraordinary success. Some lifestyle modifications and exercise as well can have some reducing effects on people’s telomere length shortening. However, it takes a much longer time to affect the shortening of telomere as compared to hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
